Staying in Control

A crash game is built so that a round lasts a few seconds and the decision to "keep going or cash out" has to be made almost instantly. That pace makes it easy to lose track of time and money spent. This page is about keeping play a form of entertainment and about where to find help if that is no longer working.

Gambling as paid entertainment

It makes sense to treat a stake as the price of entertainment, not as an investment. The return percentage describes the average result over a very large number of rounds, and over the long run the edge stays with the game. No betting system or choice of difficulty level changes that. Even the free demo can pull you in: if it takes more time than you planned, that is also a reason to stop.

Signs that control is slipping

It is worth paying attention if you increasingly play longer than intended, raise stakes to win back losses, borrow money to play or hide your gambling from people close to you. Other warning signs are irritation when you cannot play, thinking about the game at work or during time off, and failed attempts to cut down. If you recognise yourself in even part of this description, it is better to take a break and use the tools in the next section.

Control tools at a glance

ToolWhat it doesWhere to set it
Deposit limitCaps the amount you can deposit per day, week or monthIn your account with the operator
Time limitReminds you how long a session has lasted or ends itWith the operator, or with a timer on your phone
Time-outBlocks access to play for a short periodIn your account with the operator
Self-exclusionLocks the account for a long period with no early cancellationThrough the operator's support service or account settings
State registerRestricts access to all licensed operators at onceBy application to the authorised state body

Limits are best set in advance, while you are calm, rather than in the middle of a session. With most operators a lower limit applies immediately, while a higher one takes effect after a delay.

The state access restriction register

Ukraine maintains a Register of persons restricted from accessing gambling establishments and/or taking part in gambling. It is kept by the state gambling regulator, PlayCity. A person can personally apply to be entered in the register for a chosen period within the limits set by law. Licensed operators are required to check the register and must not allow listed persons to play. This is a stronger measure than self-exclusion with a single operator, because it applies across all legal platforms at once.

Help from specialists

Gambling addiction is recognised as a disorder that can be treated. Support is available from specialised services for people with gambling problems, from psychologists and psychotherapists, and from mutual support groups that meet in person and online. You can also seek help on behalf of someone close to you. If thoughts of self-harm appear, contact emergency services straight away.

Age: strictly 21 and over

Under Ukrainian law, taking part in gambling is allowed only from the age of 21. The material on this site is addressed to adults. If teenagers use your device, do not leave a game account logged in or passwords saved on it, and turn on parental controls.
